Wampanoag families lived in wetus. The frame of a wetu was made of young samplings. The frame was covered with woven grass in the summer and sheets of tree bark in the winter.
The first Thanksgiving was in 1621, when the Pilgrims, along with the Wampanoags, gathered to celebrate the first successful harvest of the colony. Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States and Canada. It is a time for family get-togethers and good food.
