Who invented the telephone? - Alexander Graham Bell has been widely recognized as the "inventor" of the telephone outside of Italy, where Antonio Meucci was championed as its inventor. The classic story of Bell crying out "Watson, come here! I want to see you!" is a well known part of American history.
